Rate of Change - The Slippery "Slope"

We reflected upon an interesting discovery made by some of you about the rate of change of the rate of change of a Quadratic Function being constant, even if the rate of change of the function itself was not constant. Some interesting questions emerged
:

1. Is this the case with all quadratic functions?

2. What would happen if we were to analyse the rate of change of a cubic function? (Here it should be noted that I have not talked about these functions at all and Taha Mustafa mentioned them and wondered about this.)

3. Is there a quick way to find formulas for all functions without having to do guess work?

These questions are very important and since so many of you are wondering the same thing, I think that we will address these questions sometime this term!

Keep up the great thinking!

For now just do the first page of the handout I gave you in class today and we'll take the linear functions a little bit further tomorrow.

Do bring your text book to class tomorrow!
